In a bold move to recover outstanding debts, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected Ghana Water Limited from the national power grid over an eye-watering GHS 1 billion owed.

The disconnection forms part of ECG’s aggressive nationwide revenue mobilization drive targeting major defaulters. The action is already sparking concerns over potential disruptions in water supply across parts of the country, as pressure mounts on Ghana Water to settle its long-standing arrears.
