Residents of a suburb in Obuasi have apprehended a young man, identified as Akwasi Francis, after he was allegedly caught red-handed with stolen metal pipe fabrications in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was seen acting suspiciously while attempting to transport the metal items. Upon being confronted, he failed to give a convincing explanation, prompting residents to detain and interrogate him.
During the intense questioning by locals, Akwasi Francis confessed to stealing the metal with the intent to sell it to scrap dealers, who typically buy such items by weight. In a moment of vulnerability, he reportedly told residents that he is married with two children and pleaded for leniency before being handed over to a police officer who arrived on the scene.
