The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC) have announced a 15% reduction in transport fares, effective Saturday, May 24, 2025.

This decision comes as a relief to commuters nationwide, following a gradual reduction in fuel prices and broader consultations between transport unions and key stakeholders.

New Fare Breakdown for Commuters:

Accra to Kumasi Old Fare: GH₵100 → New Fare: GH₵85 Accra to Takoradi Old Fare: GH₵95 → New Fare: GH₵80.75 Accra to Cape Coast Old Fare: GH₵60 → New Fare: GH₵51 Circle to Madina (Trotro) Old Fare: GH₵10 → New Fare: GH₵8.50 Kaneshie to Kasoa (Trotro) Old Fare: GH₵12 → New Fare: GH₵10.20

Transport operators have been urged to comply strictly with the new fares, and passengers are encouraged to report any instances of non-compliance to the appropriate authorities.

The fare reduction aims to ease the financial burden on the public and reflects the unions’ commitment to fair and responsive pricing in the transport sector.
