Amasaman High Court Denies Agradaa Bail, Orders Appeal Process to Continue

Amasaman, Ghana – July 15, 2025 — The Amasaman High Court has dismissed a bail application filed by the legal team of controversial evangelist and self-acclaimed “money doublers,” Nana Agradaa, legally known as Patricia Asiedua. This ruling paves the way for the continuation of the appeal process against her earlier conviction for defrauding by false pretenses.

The presiding judge, in delivering the decision on Monday, emphasized that granting bail at this stage could undermine the judicial process and interfere with the appeal procedures currently underway. The court maintained that the seriousness of the charges and the evidence presented during her trial weighed heavily against her application.

Agradaa was convicted earlier this year after she was found guilty of operating a money-doubling scam under the guise of spiritual and religious practices, targeting unsuspecting members of her church. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labor, following months of public outcry and legal battles.

Her legal counsel had argued that she posed no flight risk and deserved bail on humanitarian grounds while pursuing her appeal. However, the prosecution opposed the application, citing the need to uphold public confidence in the justice system and prevent any possible obstruction of justice.

With the bail request rejected, Agradaa remains in custody as the Court of Appeal prepares to hear her case. The decision has been met with mixed reactions, with some hailing it as a victory for accountability, while others, including a section of her followers, believe she is being unfairly targeted.

The appeal process is expected to continue in the coming weeks, as the defense seeks to overturn the conviction and sentence.
