Accra, Ghana – July 15, 2025 — In a deeply emotional scene outside the Amasaman High Court, a disabled trader broke down in tears and fell to her knees, passionately pleading with the government to forgive Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa.
With tears streaming down her face, the woman begged for mercy on behalf of the embattled preacher, who is currently serving a 15-year sentence for defrauding members of her church through a so-called “money doubling” scheme.
“She has wronged the people, yes — but please, have mercy. Forgive her. We are begging,” the woman cried, drawing attention and sympathy from bystanders, including journalists and some court officials. “She still has children. She can change. Let the government forgive her.”
The heart-wrenching plea came just minutes after the High Court denied Agradaa’s bail application and ruled that her appeal must proceed through the normal judicial process. The court cited the severity of her crimes and the risk of interference in the ongoing legal matter as reasons for rejecting the application.
Despite her conviction and the overwhelming public backlash, Agradaa still has a loyal group of followers — many of whom believe she was misguided but can be redeemed. The disabled trader, who claims to have once benefited from Agradaa’s support, insists that the evangelist deserves a second chance.
“She helped some of us when no one else would. I know what she did was wrong, but I beg the government to remember the good too,” she added between sobs.
The moment has sparked mixed reactions online. While some have commended the woman’s show of loyalty and forgiveness, others argue that justice must take its full course to protect future victims and restore public trust in the justice system.
As the appeal process moves forward, Agradaa remains in custody — but the cries for clemency from some of her supporters continue to echo in public discourse.
