Accra, Ghana – June 10, 2025 –
His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has officially sworn in the newly appointed Chairperson and members of the Governing Council of the Ghana Police Service at a ceremony held at the Jubilee House.
The Council is mandated to provide strategic policy direction, oversight, and institutional support to the Police Service in line with the country’s evolving security needs.
In his remarks, President Mahama charged the Council to uphold integrity, professionalism, and accountability in steering the affairs of the Police Service.
“Security is the backbone of development. The Ghana Police must earn and maintain the trust of the people. This Council will play a vital role in ensuring just that,” the President stated.
The Chairperson, along with the council members, pledged to support reforms that will enhance operational efficiency, community policing, and human rights compliance within the service.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, members of the security services, and traditional leaders.
